Type Locality and Naming
Northwest corner of Jianxi. The Guanyinge Fm was named by the Jiangxi Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1982 and was formally published by Xu Bei in 1987. The typical section is situated at Guanyinge, 4 km north of Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province. Lower formation in Xiushui Gr

Lithology and Thickness
The Guanyinge Fm is subdivided into four members. In ascending order: First member is composed of yellowish massive conglomerate in lower part and yellow massive tuffaceous lithic greywacke in the upper part. Second member is gray thin-bedded tuffaceous lithic arkosic greywacke interbedded with carbonaceous slate, with two cycles. Third member consists of greenish gray tuffaceous lithic quartzose greywacke, silty slate and sandy slate. Fourth member is gray fine-grained sandstone interbedded with slate. The Guanyinge Fm is about 480 m thick.
